The concept · Slow
Time flows, it doesn't race.

Time is the same for everyone. That is exactly why it should be savoured: in the right place, with the people you love or on your own, through quality experiences that stay with you.
Slow means valuing your time. Spending it outside the usual routine, doing what you enjoy most. And why not work from a one-of-a-kind office by the sea, with the sounds of nature, without hurry or stress.
We didn't invent it
Founded in Italy by Carlo Petrini, in response to a fast-food restaurant opening near the Spanish Steps in Rome. The international manifesto was signed in Paris in 1989 by 15 countries. Today it is present in over 150 countries.
Founded in Greve in Chianti. As of December 2025 it brings together 308 towns in 71 countries, 90 of them in Italy, for a better quality of life and less standardisation.
Carl Honoré's book describes slow as a cultural revolution against the idea that faster is always better.
Slow Wine, slow fashion (since 2007), Slow Art Day (since 2009), slow medicine, slow cinema, slow travel: a way of choosing, in many fields.

Slow Travel Elba brings this idea to the island's twelve months.
The concept
Summer on Elba is beautiful and busy. The rest of the year it is another island: the same beaches, the same trails, far more space. Slow Travel Elba tells the story of Elba in the months when you wander without a destination, stop to look, and sit down at the table without watching the clock.
Slow doesn't mean old-fashioned, static or idle. It means real and unique: a place to find yourself again, to regain your focus and, why not, to work somewhere on a human scale. A place to relax and to work well, without stress.

Marina di Campo · Christmas season
Christmas lights in the streets of the centre, the harbour at sunset, the square with the tree. The town stays alive even when the season is over, and Maison Carol is right in the centre.
Winter here has its village festivals: the square lighting up, music in the bars and restaurants open all year, the voices of local families meeting on the seafront in the evening and greeting each other by name. There is room for the people who live on the island, and whoever arrives becomes part of it for a few days.

Beyond the beach · Elba Island
Elba doesn't end at the beach. Villages with festive lights, lighthouses, rocks, the ferry arriving under a rainbow: out of season you explore the island without hurry and without queues.
Off season the island is full of things to do: botanical trekking at Pomonte, astronomy evenings, wine and chestnut festivals in the villages, guided walks with the National Park. The up-to-date calendar is on Elba Eventi.

History · Marina di Campo
The building dates from the early twentieth century and is one of the first built in Marina di Campo. For years it was the home of fishermen. In town they called it Palazzo Vaticano, because of the water cistern that served the whole building: for the time, a precious convenience.
The 1943–45 photographs show the town of that time: a few houses, the trees and the hills behind.
Inside, the original terracotta and wood ceilings and the vaulted bedroom ceilings have remained, intact for a century. You sleep under the same vault as back then, with all of today's comforts.
